Euglena Group establishes facilities to further develop production technology and improve productivity
Newly established in the production base of Ishigaki Island

Euglena Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Mitsuru Izumo, hereinafter Euglena Co., Ltd.) and Euglena Group's Yaeyama Shokusan Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Ishigaki City, Okinawa Prefecture, President: Ryohei Nakano, hereinafter Yaeyama Shokusan) Inside, the "advanced production development building" that researches and develops advanced production technology for microalgae such as Euglena, the "general building" equipped with the back offices and experimental equipment of both companies, and the electricity that supports the stable operation of the production equipment are supplied. We are pleased to inform you that the construction of the "Euglena" will be completed and will start full-scale operation from October 1st (Monday).

The Euglena group produces microalgae such as Euglena (scientific name: Euglena), which is the main material of the group, on the premises of Yaeyama Sangyo. This time, by constructing the "advanced production development building" (released on August 28, 2017) to research and develop advanced production technology for microalgae, and by renovating each facility on the dilapidated Yaeyama breeding site. , We will improve and stabilize the production efficiency of various microalgaes such as Midorimushi and Chlorella, as well as further research and development and production technology development.

         By promoting the stable supply of electric power and power saving, which are indispensable for the production of microalgae, we will realize eco-friendly and stable production of microalgae.

 In addition to the above, from the perspective of food safety and food defense, we have strengthened the system as a safe and secure food factory by constructing a new outer wall to prevent intrusion from the outside and contamination by foreign substances.
 In August 2018, we installed a vertical-axis Magnus wind power generator from Charenergy Co., Ltd. *, a wind power generation venture company, on the premises and started verification tests. We plan to use the electricity generated by this wind power generation for Our company electric vehicles (scheduled to start in October 2018). * Investment destination of "Real Tech Fund" operated by Euglena

 With the completion of the new facility on the Yaeyama breeding site, the Euglena group will promote further development and innovation of production technology for microalgae including Euglena, to realize stable supply of materials, cost reduction, and increase in demand. We will respond to the diversifying market needs that accompany it.
