Euglena Group Co., Ltd. Euglena Investment-specialized venture capital fund "Real Tech Fund" (Representative: Akihiko Nagata) ) Will start the creativity expansion experiment project "Mitaxis" with the theme of "Science & Art". As the first project, a classroom "Mitaxis Class" will be held on July 20th, with scientist Akira Wakita as a lecturer, and lectures and workshops will be held at Euglena The course will be held at the Tamachi office.

Unknown Seeker = Scientist
The interaction of unknown artists = artists expands creativity.

"Mitaxis" is a combination of "Phototaxis", which is the property of Euglena (Euglena) to move using light as a stimulus source, and "Mi", which is unknown, future, and unexplored. It is a coined word that expresses "sex (orientation toward the unknown)". In today's society, which is undergoing unprecedentedly rapid transformation, many people are exhausted by the flood of information and are surrounded by anxiety and doubts about the future. In such a complicated and uncertain world, in order for each individual to be independent and live in his or her own way, it is necessary to proactively face the unknown and visualize a better future.

Real Tech Fund investment support venture companies and Euglena Co., Ltd. are "seekers" who boldly challenge the unknown, while artists (artists) are unknown. It can be said that he is an "expressor" who excels in the ability to visualize what is. In other words, although they have different abilities and occupations, they have a big commonality: "intention to the unknown = Mitaxis".
The Mitaxis project is a place for experiments to expand people's creativity by learning how to face the unknown that is common to "science" and "art", and "seekers" and "expressors" can share their strengths with each other. By complementing each other, I believe that the way of thinking and expressiveness that will lead a better future will be cultivated.

A classroom where you can face the unknown and develop your "power to express"
Mitaxis Class

As the first project of the Mitaxis project, we will hold a classroom called "Mitaxis Class" to train the ability to face and express unknown things. In the 1st season (3 times in total), we will invite people who practice "expression" born from both "science" and "art" as lecturers, and offer a series of experience programs consisting of lectures and expression workshops.
In the first half of the lecture, you will deepen your basic understanding of "science & art", such as how science can become art and how "research" and "expression" are connected. Based on this, in the latter half of the "Expression Workshop", each student will express according to the tasks given by the instructor.
The first lecturer is Akira Wakita, a scientist who also has the face of a university professor. With the theme of "physicality," we continue to produce materials that can control real-time images and colors by fluid simulation. We develop original software based on fluid dynamics and thermodynamic models, and focus on visualization across science and art.
