　Euglena Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Mitsuru Izumo) will start a biofuel production demonstration plant in the Keihin coastal area of Yokohama City as Japan's first initiative from January 15, 2018 (Monday). In the construction work of (hereinafter, "demonstration plant"), we decided to start using a biojet fuel containing euglena, which partially uses euglena (scientific name: Euglena) as a fuel for the generator. It will be announced.

　Since listing on TSE Mothers in 2012, we have set a goal of achieving paid flights using bio-jet fuel by 2020. Under such circumstances, in 2012, the ASTM standard partially used Euglena as a raw material for research purposes. ^{* 1} Compliant euglena-containing bio-jet fuel "Bio-SPK" ^{* 2} Was manufactured. This time, we decided to effectively utilize the unused portion of "Bio-SPK" after research as fuel for generators in the construction work of the demonstration plant.
　In the TV commercial announced in May 2016, we made the first attempt in history to cover all the energy sources used for shooting with biodiesel fuel containing euglena. This is the second time that biofuel containing euglena has been used as an energy source, and the first time in Japan that biojet fuel containing euglena has been used and used in construction work.

* 1: ASTM standard: A standard established by ASTM International, the world's largest standardization body. Jet fuels used in aircraft worldwide are required to comply with ASTM standards.
* 2: Bio-SPK: Abbreviation for Bio-Derived Synthetic Paraffinic Kerosene. One of the types of bio-jet fuel standardized by ASTM International.
