 Euglena Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Mitsuru Izumo, hereinafter Euglena Co., Ltd.), University of Tsukuba Algae Biomass Energy System Development Research Center (Center Director: Makoto Watanabe, hereinafter ABES), Algae Industry Creation Consortium (General Incorporated Association) Chairman: Isao Inoue, hereinafter referred to as the Algae Consortium) is pleased to announce that the 7th Annual Meeting of the International Society of Applied Algae has been successfully invited to Japan and will be held at the Makuhari Messe in April 2020.

 The International Society for Applied Phycology (ISAP) is the world's largest academic society with the theme of algae research, established in 1999. The International Society of Applied Algae has been holding international conferences every three years around the world since the first conference was held in Spain in 2002, and this time we succeeded in attracting the first conference in Japan.
 Euglena Co., Ltd., ABES, and the Algae Consortium will collaborate to manage the academic society to disseminate information on cutting-edge algae research being conducted in Japan to the world, and to develop academic and industrial utilization of algae. We will support your contribution to.

■ Date: April 20-24, 2020 (5 days)
■ Venue: Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture (Makuhari Messe)
■ Participants : Approximately 500 (including approximately 400 overseas participants)
■ Outline of the conference: A meeting to present research on algae and exchange technical information
■ Other : We utilize the international conference subsidy system of Chiba Prefecture and Chiba City to attract the International Society of Applied Algae.

<About Euglena Co., Ltd.>

<About ABES>
It was established on July 1, 2015 at the University of Tsukuba, a national university corporation. It is the largest algae biomass center in Japan, consisting of about 50 faculty members from various fields. Six research fields have been set up, with the aim of building an interdisciplinary system that consistently promotes basic research, empirical research, and industrial applications.

<About the Algae Industry Creation Consortium>
Established in June 2010 and transferred to a general incorporated association in April 2013 in order to contribute to the creation of the algae industry and the realization of a low-carbon society promoted by the government. We aim to establish the algae industry at an early stage through activities such as exploration of technological development issues such as industrial use of algae, domestic and overseas surveys, collection and provision of information, and research and development in which member companies participate.
