Hiroshima Motor Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration Promotion Council (hereinafter "Hiroshima Ren") and Euglena Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Mitsuru Izumo, hereinafter "Euglena") are expanding the spread of next-generation biofuels for automobiles. We will start the demonstration project plan "Hiroshima" Your Green Fuel "project" in Hiroshima. * Attachment: Materials announced on the day
In recent years, global warming countermeasures have become an increasingly important issue, and especially in the automobile industry, in order to reduce CO 2 emissions related to automobile use, "energy sources are created and used as power for automobiles. It is important to have the idea of "Well-to-Wheel (from fuel mining to vehicle driving)" in consideration of CO 2 emissions in "the whole process until it is done". To this end, in addition to the development and utilization of electrification technologies for electric vehicles and fuel cell vehicles, we will also introduce renewable liquid fuels for gasoline, diesel, and hybrid vehicles, which continue to account for the majority of global automobile demand. , We need to aim for zero CO 2 in Well-to-Wheel.
Hiroshiren aims to build a local production for local consumption model of carbon-neutral automobile fuel that replaces fossil fuels in order to realize a sustainable automobile society. On the other hand, Euglena Co., Ltd. is working on a commercialization plan for domestic biojet diesel fuel (hereinafter referred to as "domestic biofuel plan") toward 2020. The two sides have agreed to promote a next-generation biofuel demonstration project plan in Hiroshima through collaboration beyond the fields of energy and automobiles.
In this project, in collaboration with the "Domestic Biofuel Plan" promoted by Euglena, the region that supports the entire value chain from the production and supply of carbon-neutral next-generation biofuels to their use in the Hiroshima region. Aiming to build a creation model, we will strive to popularize and expand next-generation biofuels. Specifically, efforts to produce biofuels made from oils and fats derived from microalgae such as Euglena and used tempura oil discharged from households and companies in the Hiroshima area, and to use them in passenger cars in the Hiroshima area. Is planned to start by 2020. In addition to cultivating microalgae in Hiroshima utilizing CO 2 emitted by businesses in Hiroshima Prefecture, we are also examining the possibility of researching fertilizers and feeds for agriculture, livestock, and fisheries using microalgae residues. We will continue to.
Hiroshima's local governments, companies, regions, and Euglena Co., Ltd. will work together to make Hiroshima an eco-friendly and green city. With an eye on such a future, the "Hiroshima" Your Green Fuel "project" will start.
