We are pleased to inform you that the "Kinua Production and Sales Business Survey for Improvement" has been adopted.
Although the Kingdom of Bhutan is an agricultural country with more than half of its population engaged in agriculture, many smallholders are in poverty due to the large number of mountainous areas and the lack of suitable land for agriculture.
Under such circumstances, in this survey, we will provide technical guidance on quinoa * cultivation, which can be cultivated stably in highlands, has high nutritional value, and is in high demand in North America and elsewhere. In addition, we aim to solve the food problem in the Kingdom of Bhutan and the poverty problem in rural areas by working on food education related to nutritional value and establishing a value chain for overseas export. This survey will be conducted in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kingdom of Bhutan and the ITOCHU Group.
In addition, in the People's Republic of Bangladesh, by providing guidance on Japanese agricultural technology, we will cultivate high-quality mung beans by local farmers and build a value chain for selling mung beans inside and outside the People's Republic of Bangladesh. It has been promoted since October 2014, and we plan to utilize that knowledge and know-how in this survey.
Going forward, we will continue to implement our management philosophy of "Health for people and the earth."
The details are as follows.
* Quinoa: A type of millet that grows mainly in South America near an altitude of 3,000 m. It has high nutritional value and has been attracting attention as a health food in Europe, the United States and Japan in recent years.
