バングラデシュ地方でのGENKIプログラム拡大準備、校長先生のフォローアップ
【2015年12月の活動報告】

Introduction

Happy New Year. Thanks to you, we have completed the distribution of 740,000 meals by the end of last year, compared to the target distribution of 1 million cookies. Until the end of March, I would like to firmly promote my business to achieve my goal.

1. Follow-up meeting with principals

In December, the principals of the target schools gathered at the Dhaka office to hold a meeting on issues for this term and the number of distributions for the next term.

The number of participants reached 24, and enthusiastic discussions took place as the conference room in the Bangladesh office was too full to fit in.
We were able to exchange meaningful opinions on issues such as evaluation of teachers and how to manage cookies. Finally, this term, the three teachers who contributed most to the GENKI program were commended for the Best Performance Award. Winners were selected in consideration of the high level of material preparation for the program and the accuracy of the submission deadline.

2. About the implementation of blood test

We have been promoting the GENKI program for a year and a half, and we plan to conduct a blood test this year to measure its effectiveness. We have signed a contract with GCC (Gramin Communication Center) to carry out this work. Anemia in women and children is a serious problem in this country, and the purpose is to measure the improvement effect of symptoms through tests.

3. Ishuwaldi and Patuakhali business trip

From April 2016, we would like to extend the GENKI program to the poor in rural areas in addition to the traditional slums of Dhaka. We have conducted a survey in the following two areas to determine the target area.

~ About field survey ~
We are considering areas called Ishawdi and Patuakhali as target areas. Ishuwaldi is located 250 km west of Dhaka and Patuakhali 300 km south. It takes 7 hours by car and 12 hours by boat to reach each area.
We interviewed local schools, educators and teachers to investigate and hear about the possibility of implementing this program. Local residents make a living from agriculture and fishing, making it one of the poorest areas in Bangladesh. This is the region where the GENKI program is most needed, and we will continue to investigate it to realize it. However, on the other hand, the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) is developing activities in this area, and cookies have already been distributed, so it is necessary to select schools that do not overlap. In addition, in order to develop the GENKI program in rural areas, it will be necessary to open new offices and reinforce personnel, so we are preparing for that at the same time.
