GENKIプログラム新規校との契約および血液検査の実施
【2016年4月の活動報告】

1.First of all

In April 2016, the GENKI program entered its third year. We would like to thank all of you for your support in starting the new year.
The target number of distributions for this term is 1.5 million meals. This is 1.5 times that of last year, and the number of meals distributed per day is about 6,000. We will increase the number of target children from the current 7,000 to about 10,000. Due to the increase in the number of distributions, the number of staff in the Dhaka office has increased from 3 to 5, but we plan to increase the number in the future. In April, we conducted a blood test on children.

2. About contracts with new schools for the GENKI program

There are two new schools this month, Dhaka Ahasaniya Mission (DAM) and Holy Heard. In order to conclude a contract with a new school, you need to go through a process such as school visits, social gatherings with parents, training for teachers, and contract conclusion procedures. Only after all these procedures have been completed will Euglena cookies be delivered. It is a great pleasure for the children and their parents who are able to get new cookies to smile with joy.
This month, we worked to increase the number of employees by about 1,000, but the result was 566. This amount will be recovered from next month onwards.

3. About blood test of effect measurement

This month, we were able to perform blood tests on about 200 children. By adding medical tests to the weight, height, jumping power, and grip strength tests that have been performed so far, it will be possible to further measure the effects of the GENKI program from various aspects.
Anemia is a major health problem for children (especially women) in Bangladesh. It has become possible to grasp the state of improvement in nutrition through blood tests.

There is almost no custom of doing blood tests locally. Therefore, it was necessary to explain its significance not only to children but also to parents and school teachers to promote their understanding. We made careful preparations for the implementation, and the blood test was completed without any major problems, and all the staff are very happy. I gave the children who had completed the blood test yogurt on their way home, and they were all happy to eat it.

4. Summary

Blood test data analysis will be completed next month. I am very much looking forward to the results. We will put in place a system so that monitoring will not be neglected as the number of target children increases, and will proceed with work toward the establishment of a 1.5 million meal distribution system. We look forward to your continued support.
