GENKIプログラム対象校にて、子どもたちの学校出席率向上のためのレクリエーションを実施
【2017年4月の活動報告】

1. Start of new year

In April 2017, the GENKI program entered its fourth year. We would like to thank all of you for your support in starting the new year. This month, the school attendance rate of children was high at about 70%, and we were able to distribute cookies to more children, which was a good start toward the goal of 2 million meals this term.

2. Recreation to improve children's school attendance rate

There are a total of about 12,000 students in the school that currently distributes cookies, but children who could not come to school for some reason, such as having to work during the day due to their parents' circumstances, could not eat cookies. It's different. One of the important activities of this term is to narrow down the wisdom and devise how to distribute cookies to such children.

As part of this, the teacher and local staff came up with ideas on what to do in order for the children to enjoy going to school and have them eat cookies in order to improve the attendance rate. Euglena In order to convey the nutrients contained in cookies and their importance, we hold briefing sessions for children's parents, fun parties for children, and cricket sports competitions, which are a national sport. In fact, just before the first day of the Bengali calendar (April 14th), a fun party was held in a class with a Senpara BDP School with about 280 students. Did. We went to a competitive game in which the team that answered the teacher's theme with humor wins, and the children enjoyed desperately thinking about the funny and twisted answers (Photo 1). ). Here are the themes and answers of the winning team.

Teacher (theme): How many times have you failed?
Student (answer): Not once.
Teacher (Theme): I have been in the same class for 3 years, why?
Student (answer): I have never taken the exam because I feel sick every time on the day of the exam!

The teacher and the children were laughing at the answers that expressed their honest feelings that they did not want to take the exam. The strong desire to escape the exam seems to be universal. The teacher said, "I hope that such a fun party will be one of the motivations to come to school and continue eating cookies." Our school will continue to hold such meetings in the future. At other target schools, we will share ideas with teachers and work to improve attendance rates.

3. Cookie inventory management

We attach great importance to cookie inventory management so that we can deliver cookies to children without delay every day. At the end of the second Eid (sacrifice festival) in September last year, the driver of Nabisco (NABISCO), which manufactures and delivers cookies, is absent, so it seems that cookies will not be delivered to the necessary schools. However, I was able to deliver the cookies in stock at our local office. From this reflection, I asked Nabisco (NABISCO) to send cookies to each school by email and phone, and clarified when the cookies should be delivered. In addition, the number of cookies in stock at each school is checked by contacting the school every week, and local staff directly check the number of cookies in stock during daily school visits. From this month, we have revised the cookie delivery management table in-house and are working to improve it every day, and we are paying close attention to ensure that cookies are delivered to children through communication with Nabisco (NABISCO) and the school.

4. Job introduction of local staff Rowshan

This month, I would like to introduce the work of Roshan, a local staff member. She has been in accounting and auditing since joining the company in 2015 and supports the GENKI program from the backside. It is a daily task to pay each partner the cost of manufacturing cookies and the cost of conducting blood tests without delay, but quarterly auditing is also an important task. If Euglena, 10 yen will be used for the activity cost of the GENKI program, but I explained to the accounting office that I am using this activity cost properly. I am. Since the person in charge of the accounting office changes frequently, we place importance on politeness and accuracy and prepare materials every time so that the person in charge can understand immediately.

In addition to these tasks, she sometimes visits school (Photo 4). Through interaction with teachers and children, I make use of my understanding of the current state of the GENKI program in my daily work. In the future, I would like to increase the opportunities for school visits, directly hear the problems of this program, and make improvements.

5. Ramadan measures

From May 27th to June 25th will be Ramadan (a month when Muslims fast to thank God's grace), but I wonder how children can eat cookies during that period. Do you? During Ramadan, half of the schools that distribute cookies are closed. Cookies will be distributed to schools that are open as usual, but at schools that are closed, there are teachers who are still working, so the staff should go to school and have the children come to school. We ask the teacher to call on us and distribute cookies to the children. Children are specially allowed to eat cookies at home as they cannot eat or drink between sunrise and sunset. We also ask the teacher to instruct the children to bring an empty bag to school the next day to ensure that they have eaten the cookies. Even in such an environment, we will work in cooperation with the teacher so that more children can eat cookies.

Thank you for your continued support.
