Euglena cookies to slum dwellers suffering from food shortages and rising prices due to lockdown

In Bangladesh, 2,500 to 3,000 people infected with the new coronavirus are still confirmed per day. Under such circumstances, all educational institutions have taken measures to close schools from March 17 as part of measures to prevent the spread of infection. As a result, the GENKI program was unable to distribute Euglena On the other hand, in the capital city of Dhaka, the prolonged blockdown of the city (lockdown) has slowed the distribution of food from rural areas and the retail price is rising. In addition, the food factory has been forced to shut down temporarily, so it is in short supply. In addition, the number of workers' jobs has dropped sharply, and the poor, who make a living on a daily basis, are in dire straits every day. Euglena cookies, which have not been distributed since the school was closed, free of charge as a support measure for the poor living in the slums of Dhaka. This is equivalent to the total quantity of undistributed Euglena cookies from March 17th to the end of May, when the school was closed.
While the local city blockage (lockdown) continued, the cookie manufacturing company resumed limited factory operations from mid-May, but it was not easy to secure personnel on the production line and it was difficult to manufacture 400,000 meals in a short period of time. Was in a difficult situation. Therefore, we negotiated to complete the production of the first 200,000 meals and the remaining 200,000 meals by the end of June from the end of May to June 10 after the ID vacation. We have selected two slums in Dhaka, Layer Bazaar and Baunia Bud, where many poor people are concentrated, as the first Euglena The area also includes many families of students attending schools eligible for the GENKI program. To ensure that cookies are delivered, we created a list of 6,667 people to distribute in advance and distributed them directly to each household in the slums. Euglena cookies in a special cardboard box and ordered a total of 6,667 boxes (200,000 servings). The distribution was carried out with the cooperation of nearly 100 people, including principals, teachers, town presidents and volunteers from schools targeted for the GENKI program in each region. The distribution base requested the cooperation of 6 schools targeted for the GENKI program in the target area. We asked the principals of each school to Euglena cookies, and on June 16th, we completed all distribution. As soon as the production of the remaining 200,000 meals is completed in late June, we are preparing to distribute it in other slums in Dhaka city. Going forward, we will continue to implement various initiatives to realize our philosophy of "health for people and the earth."

2. The story of an elementary school that participated in the GENKI program immediately after the outbreak of the new coronavirus infection

The newest participating school in the GENKI program is Galvajicha Elementary School in Brahmanbaria, northeast of the capital Dhaka. Euglena cookies have been distributed to about 90 students on campus. The students had heard from the teacher about the nutritious Euglena cookies in advance, and said that they had more fun going to school because they tasted good when they actually tried them. However, since March 17, all educational institutions have taken measures to close the school as a countermeasure against the spread of the new coronavirus infection, so unfortunately the students cannot eat Euglena rice field.
Even in April of the following year, the momentum of the spread of the infection did not subside, and the days when it could not be distributed have passed for more than a month. In response to the difficult situation immediately after starting to wish for the healthy growth of children, the principal of the school, Sultana, pondered and devised a Euglena cookies stored on campus to the students. This is a method of opening the schoolyard for one day, keeping the students in a social distance, and handing Euglena The distribution date was set to May 7, and the teachers hand-picked and contacted the parents by phone in advance. Also, on the day of the event, we divided the time zone for students to go to school into three times so that they would not be crowded. Each student was Euglena cookies and food (apples and eggs) purchased from the school fund in bags. "Most parents of children make a living from low-paying daily payments," said Principal Sultana. "The effects of the new coronavirus infection are driving us into an increasingly harsh environment. Even a small amount of help really helps them. Thank you for supporting the supply of about 1,300 Euglena.. I would like to continue my activities with the aim of improving the nutrition of children while cooperating with the schools participating in the GENKI program.
