Due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, all educational institutions in Bangladesh were closed in March this spring, and the government has issued numerous extension of school closures since then. Then, in early September, when the number of newly infected people per day fell below 2,000, the government agency's Ministry of Primary and Mass Education announced guidelines for reopening elementary schools. The guideline focuses on infection control, and detailed hygiene instructions are given to carefully and regularly clean and disinfect the campus, and all students and teachers wear masks, wash their hands, and measure body temperature thoroughly on campus. It was stipulated that the social distance should be secured and maintained, such as decentralized school attendance and limiting the number of students attending school depending on the day of school. However, even in October, the extension of school closures continued, and there was no prospect of reopening. On the other hand, the traditional traffic of people is returning to the cityscape of Dhaka. Therefore, we managed Euglena cookies to students on a regular basis, and proceeded with negotiations to resume distribution to the schools targeted by the GENKI program (66 schools in total).

The specific distribution method is to open the classrooms and schoolyards on campus for two days a month (10th and 25th) and let the students go to school while maintaining their social distance, and the teacher will give each student Euglena The method is to hand over 15 days worth of cookies. Instead of eating the cookies on campus, we decided to take them home and have them eat them every day at home. As a result of setting the first distribution resumption date on October 25 and the local staff negotiating with all the schools targeted for the GENKI program, the principals of each of the 19 schools first announced that they would participate in this distribution resumption. For the day, with the cooperation of teachers and school officials, we Euglena cookies for distribution into bags for handing to each student in advance, and inform each student's home by telephone in advance. The we. However, just before that, at some schools, the School Management Committee (an organization that combines the functions of the Japanese Board of Education and PTA) judged that "infection prevention measures could not be maintained on campus". In some cases, I had to cancel it in a hurry. Nevertheless, in the end, we were able to successfully distribute 43,950 bags Euglena cookies to 2,930 students (school attendance rate: 53.2%) for all 16 schools (registered students: 5,504). Principal Araudin of BDP City Colony Elementary School, one of the schools that resumed distribution this time, said as follows. "The students at my school were Euglena cookies for the first time in almost seven months. Despite being closed due to the corona, the teachers are willing to take on the task of distributing cookies. It helped the students get nutritious food, and as a result, they were able to taste the cookies for the first time in a long time. ”The school holidays due to the euglena will continue. Euglena cookie distribution, we will promote activities so that it can be delivered to as many children as possible.
